CalcShed.com (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you visit our website.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
If you contact us by email, we receive the information you include, such as your name, email address, and message. We use this information to respond to your inquiry and do not add you to marketing lists.
Analytics and Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand website usage and improve CalcShed. Depending on the tool and consent settings, analytics information can include pages visited, interactions, referral information, timestamps, browser and device details, and cookie or session identifiers. This information is not necessarily anonymous.
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics helps us understand traffic sources, page usage, and visitor engagement. Google receives analytics information through its tracking technology. For details about Google’s handling of personal data, see the Google Privacy Policy.
Google also offers an Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for supported browsers. This add-on applies to Google Analytics, not Microsoft Clarity.
Microsoft Clarity: Heatmaps and Session Recordings
Microsoft Clarity helps us understand how visitors navigate and interact with our pages. It creates heatmaps and session replays from website activity, such as page visits, clicks or taps, scrolling, and changes to the page. We use these tools to find usability problems and improve our calculators, layouts, and website performance.
Clarity uses cookies and other tracking technologies, with behavior affected by consent settings. Microsoft receives the information collected through Clarity. Read the Microsoft Privacy Statement for details about Microsoft’s processing of this information and available privacy choices.
Microsoft’s masking documentation explains that Clarity masks input-box and dropdown values. Other page content is handled according to the project’s masking settings. Masking form fields does not, by itself, mean that every piece of information displayed elsewhere on a page is excluded from a session replay. Please do not enter confidential or sensitive personal information into our calculators.
Information Collected Automatically
- Hosting and security information: Our hosting provider processes request information, such as IP addresses, browser details, requested URLs, and timestamps, for website operation, security, and performance monitoring.
- Usage information: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity process website activity as described above.
- Display preferences: Your light or dark theme preference is stored in your browser’s local storage so the site can remember your selection.
Calculator Inputs
Our calculators perform calculations in your browser using JavaScript. Calculating a result does not require submitting your form values to a CalcShed server for calculation. This is separate from the analytics and session-replay processing described above. Information displayed in page content can fall within the scope of session replay, subject to Clarity’s masking settings.
Closing a page does not necessarily remove all browser-stored information, cookies, or information already processed by analytics providers.
Cookies and Your Choices
We use cookies and browser storage for website functionality, remembering preferences, and analytics. The cookie named cs_consent records your analytics-cookie choice for up to 180 days.
Our consent configuration uses Google Consent Mode. For visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, analytics-cookie storage is configured as denied by default until consent is given. Elsewhere, it is configured as granted by default unless you decline. A previously saved choice is reapplied on later visits.
When the cookie notice appears, select Accept or Decline to record your choice. To reset a saved choice with the current controls, delete CalcShed’s cookies through your browser’s site-data settings and return to the website to see the notice again. Choices are specific to each browser and device. Browser settings also let you block cookies or remove stored site data.
Declining analytics cookies does not necessarily stop every analytics request. Google’s Consent Mode can still send limited measurements without analytics cookies. These choices also do not remove operational server logs or data already collected.
How We Use and Disclose Information
We use information to operate and improve CalcShed, respond to inquiries, monitor performance and security, understand usage, and meet legal obligations. Our hosting and analytics providers receive information for the services described in this policy. Google and Microsoft explain their own processing in the privacy notices linked above.
We do not sell or rent the contact information you send us by email. This does not mean that no website-usage information is disclosed to analytics providers.
Data Retention
We retain inquiry emails for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and meet any applicable recordkeeping obligations. Hosting-log retention is governed by our hosting provider’s settings and policies. Google Analytics retention depends on the property settings and the type of data or report.
Microsoft currently documents a 30-day retention period for ordinary Clarity playback data. Heatmap and click data, and recordings that are labeled or marked as favorites, can be retained for nine months. See Clarity’s data-retention documentation for details.
Your Rights
Depending on the laws that apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us. We will handle requests within the period required by applicable law.
California Residents
Where California privacy law applies, residents may have rights to know about collected personal information, request access, correction or deletion, and opt out of qualifying sales or sharing. Our use of third-party analytics is described above. See the California Attorney General’s privacy-rights guidance or contact us with questions or requests concerning your information.
European Residents
Where European data-protection law applies, we rely on consent for optional analytics where required, legitimate interests for operating and securing the website and responding to inquiries, and legal obligations where processing is required by law. Children’s Privacy
CalcShed is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our website or practices change. The “Last updated” date on this page identifies the latest revision.
